The Body Shop International is committed to the principles of the Round Table for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). Today 100% of The Body Shop purchases are made according to the RSPO standard.
If we include palm
oil in our products we purchase only RSPO certified
palm oil.
In the case of palm
oil derivatives we are also certified as sustainable
by the RSPO, in some cases using the “book and claim” model as an interim
solution until a critical mass of certified segregated materials becomes
accessible on the market.

Do you have any links to PETA?
The Body Shop
products are endorsed as cruelty-free by People for the Ethical Treatment of
Animals (PETA). With regards to our Against Animal Testing stance
The Body Shop® has always believed passionately that animals should not be used
for cosmetic testing.
We have never
tested any of our ingredients or products on animals and we never will. We
believe that sufficient ingredients are available for
use by the industry, in order to produce innovative, effective and safe
products, without the need for animal testing.
The Body Shop®
sources its ingredients only from suppliers who do not test their ingredients
on animals. This is audited regularly to ensure absolute compliance with the British
Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) Humane Cosmetics Standard.
Our products are
also endorsed as cruelty-free by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
(PETA). Such are our high standards, recently the BUAV recognised The Body
Shop® as setting “a gold standard” for the industry.
